On Saturday morning my dad was cutting the grass at his new job! It was a 5 minute job so he decided to wear his running shoes little did he know if he had worn his work boots he might have been alright! But he didn't n he slipped while cutting the grass and his left foot slipped underneath the lawnmower! If he would have let go the lawnmower would have stopped but ur first instickt is to hold onto something when your falling! Anyway the lawnmower did quite a bit of damage to his big toe it also shattered the bone going into his big toe! When it happened he was at the side of the building and he hopped all the way to the office and called 911 then he called my mom! My mom n brother went down right away! The OSM station # 1 was there within minutes! And the ambulance soon after! My mom rode in the ambulance and sat in the front seat with the driver. When they were driving down the road (without the lights or sirens on) the driver asks "so how olds ur husband 52?" and my mom says "no he's 56" all the sudden they start speeding and turn on the lights and sirens! He arrived at the hospital at around 11:30am he sat around all day in emergency waiting to see a doctor. Then they took him to x-ray where they realized he had shattered the bone leading to his big toe! They never did surgery until 10:00pm and they never cleaned it out until the surgery. But they could not get all of the grass and dirt out of the wound so he may loose his big toe if infection sets in! He's been in the hospital for a week now just to make sure there's no infection! Yesterday we took him for a walk outside in a wheelchair! The two doctors are deciding today what they are going to do!

UPDATE:

Today we were in visiting my dad and the doctors came in and they discussed what they are going to do! they decided that they would try to save the toe! So tomorrow hes having surgery to get the infection out of the wound!
